Harmony Spiral ("we", "our", "us") operates the website harmonyspiral.com and the Harmony Spiral mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices regarding your data.
When you create an account via Google or Apple sign-in, we receive and store your name and email address from your authentication provider. We do not store your password — authentication is handled securely by Clerk, our authentication provider.
If you save compositions, we store your musical data including chord progressions, melody notes, drum patterns, tempo, key, and instrument selections. This data is tied to your account so you can access it across devices.
We track your progress through theory chapters, practice exercises, and earned achievements to provide a personalized learning experience.
On the web, payments are processed by Stripe; in the iOS app, purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not store your credit card number or billing details. We only receive and store a customer or transaction identifier, payment status, and the date of purchase.
We use your browser's local storage to remember preferences such as whether you've completed the onboarding tour. In the mobile app, your compositions and progress are also stored locally on your device so the app works offline, and are synchronized with our servers when you are online.
When you visit a page, we record basic first-party usage data on our own servers: the page visited, browser type, referring page, platform (web or mobile app), account tier (anonymous, free, or premium — never which account), and approximate location (country, region, city) derived from your connection. Your IP address is not stored — it is replaced with a one-way anonymized identifier used only to count unique visits. This data is not linked to your identity. We use it solely to understand how the app is used; it is never shared with third parties or used for advertising.
